Ultimate Doesn’t Build Character, It Reveals It

I was reminded today of a saying I first heard in my days playing Ultimate Frisbee: “Ultimate doesn’t build character, it reveals it.” I believe the quote originally referenced “adversity”, but that first word is pretty interchangeable and the underlying message is the same.

The Beauty of Music, Teaching, and Learning

One of my little-known secrets is that I play piano. And I’ve also recorded it. And uploaded it to YouTube. I’ve witnessed some of the lashings you can take when you upload videos of your own to the site, but I have to say that sometimes it’s worth the risk.

Things I’m Reading & Learning About

Here’s a list of things I’m currently reading and learning about (minus the obvious half -joking ones like “life”). In some cases I’m learning through reading, in other cases through a teacher/mentor/instructor/friend, in other cases by teaching myself, and for some of these things, I’m just keeping tabs on them. In some ways, this is a little bit of a peek into what’s on my mind.
