Adrian -vs- 24 (3-6)

Here’s a recap of the last 3 predictions I had to follow up on:

  • The attempt on Palmer will not be entirely successful, but will do what it needs to do to (at least temporarily) remove him from the Presidency

With Palmer in a coma and the Vice-Pres now in power, looks like this was bang on. Booya, that’s one more for me.

  • Palmer (and likely others) will notice Assad’s actions, which will buy Assad some trust, even though it will be compromised with Palmer being incapacitated
  • At the same time, Assad will be accused of attempting to kill the President and will be detained

Well, I’m conceding these were wrong as Assad has been killed off, and in that one fell swoop, 24 gets two points.

24 will also get one more point for catching me off guard – specifically with the news that Audrey was not only killed, but killed while trying to find Jack in China.

Current Score: Adrian (3) – 24 (6)

Predictions

In the last episode, Jack is told that Audrey died in a car accident in China sometime in the process of trying to follow up on Jack’s disappearance. My prediction this week may not pan out for some time, possibly not until the last episode, but here it is nonetheless.

As they alluded to in the episode, it’s safe to say that Audrey was in fact assassinated, so no prediction there. But, it will be the circumstances around her assassination that will be a surprise. My prediction:

  • Audrey received help from Mike Novik in her efforts to find out what happened to Jack
  • While following the leads that take her to China, Audrey will have also uncovered details about a larger plot, and the larger plot will involve a rogue group in China working together with the Russians, i.e. the same Russians behind this season’s major plot line

There it is. I think I may be putting my neck out on the line with these ones…

Adrian -vs- 24 (2-3)

Adrian vs 24Here’s a look at each of my latest predictions:

  • An attempt will be made on President Palmer’s well-being (I’m not quite predicting an attempt on his life), and Assad will be framed with the attempt

I was 50/50 right and wrong on this one. The attempt was indeed on Palmer’s life, but Assad was also framed for the attempt. So I’m calling this one a draw.

  • Assad will see the plans unfolding and will do his best to save the President, but won’t quite succeed

That’s 1 point for me as Assad noticed the bomb shortly before detonation, and then warned “Bomb!” just seconds before the bomb went off.

  • The attempt on Palmer will not be entirely successful, but will do what it needs to do to (at least temporarily) remove him from the Presidency
  • Palmer (and likely others) will notice Assad’s actions, which will buy Assad some trust, even though it will be compromised with Palmer being incapacitated
  • At the same time, Assad will be accused of attempting to kill the President and will be detained

Seems like these three are all on track, but we won’t know until next week. So for now, I’m calling these all a draw.

Current score: Adrian (2) – 24 (3)

Adrian -vs- 24 (1-1)

24 whooped me good last week, and time’s running out for me to get my next set of predictions in, so here are a few, we’ll see what happens tonight.

Prediction

  • An attempt will be made on President Palmer’s well-being (I’m not quite predicting an attempt on his life), and Assad will be framed with the attempt
  • Assad will see the plans unfolding and will do his best to save the President, but won’t quite succeed

Update

As it turned out, these predictions were all too far ahead down the plot. One that sounds like it may come true is Assad being framed for the attempt on Palmer’s “well-being”. For now, I won’t take any points until we find out what actually happens with this sub plot.

But, I’m going to have to concede some points to 24 for catching me off guard with some plot twists, specifically, two: (1) Tom Lennox turning out to have been playing Reed all along and about to turn over evidence to the Secret Service, (2) The return of Logan!! What a doozy!

So, current score: Adrian (1) – 24 (3)

Adrian -vs- 24 (1-0)

Adrian vs 24I’m a BIG fan of 24. While I watch my fair share of TV, there aren’t many shows I couldn’t go without. But not 24. After starting to watch midway through season 4, I was hooked and have since watched every episode from every season. I haven’t quite gotten to the point where I’ve pulled a 24 (watching all 24 episodes of one season in one sitting), but I have a picture of Jack Bauer as my avatar on MSN, I had the same photo as my profile photo at work, I have an MP3 recording of the CTU ringtone, and I have gotten pretty good at imitating the dialogue and even some voices.

Am I embarrassed about it? No. Am I proud of it? Well, I guess a little!

One thing I’ve gotten pretty good at is predicting the plot – I’m proud to say I successfully predicted what I think was probably one of the more obscure plot lines of this season.

If you are still reading this, I’m going to assume that you follow the TV series, are up to speed with the current season, and don’t mind having any or all parts of the season spoiled by reading here.

Morris O’Brian from 24Two weeks ago I made a prediction that the engineer with the right credentials to reprogram the remaining “4 friends” would be Morris O’Brian. It took two weeks for the details to unravel, but sure enough, Morris is the guy!

What was the giveaway? There were actually two. One giveaway was the scene where Chloe is talking to Morris about how she always loses the people around her…a little dramatic irony as Morris’ life is now in danger. The other giveaway was the character build up they’ve been doing for Morris, subtly showing that he’s not only a talented programmer, but also a character with a bit of a past…the kind of past that would give him the credentials to do something like re-program detonation devices for nuclear warheads.
Think that’s geeky? Well how about this:

Introducing Adrian -vs- 24

In light of me coming out on top, I’m officially starting a little competition: Adrian -vs- 24.

How will it work? Every week (or whenever the thought occurs to me), I’ll make a prediction or an extended prediction of the plot for this season of 24.

If my prediction turns out true, I’ll get a point. If my prediction turns out false, 24 gets a point. 24 will also get a point if there is a major plot twist that surprises me or catches me off guard. I’ll try to only make predictions that will either be right or be wrong, but in the possible event of my prediction falling into a grey zone, no one will get any points.

I have a few more predictions in the works and will try to get them up before next week’s episode. One of these is an “extended prediction” for this Morris sub-plot. Stay tuned…
